Nirvana’s 1991 track “Something in the Way” is seeing a surge in popularity following the launch of The Batman, which features the Kurt Kobain-written song prominently.

Billboard reports that the track, which was featured on Nirvana’s iconic Nevermind album, exploded with more than 3.1 million on-demand streams in the US in the first four days after The Batman’s release. This is up from 372,000 streams the four days prior, representing a 737% increase. It saw such a surge in popularity that it ranked, for a period of time at least, in Spotify’s Daily USA Top 50 songs

“Something in the Way” also saw a growth in popularity after trailers for the film featured it, but the spike in streams after the movie’s actual release was more pronounced.

The Batman director Matt Reeves told Empire that Robert Pattinson’s Batman is inspired by Kurt Cobain.

“When I write, I listen to music, and as I was writing the first act, I put on Nirvana’s ‘Something In The Way,'” Reeves said. “That’s when it came to me that, rather than make Bruce Wayne the playboy version we’ve seen before, there’s another version who had gone through a great tragedy and become a recluse. So I started making this connection to Gus Van Sant’s Last Days, and the idea of this fictionalized version of Kurt Cobain being in this kind of decaying manor.”

Nevermind also featured the iconic Nirvana songs “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “Come As You Are,” “Lithium,” and “Breed.”
